Oklahoma State's John Wozniak Named Running Backs Coach of The Year

Wozniak receives honor on both the national and conference levels after leading OSU's rushing attack this season.

John Wozniak got the recognition he deserves on Thursday.

The Oklahoma State's running backs coach was named the National and Big 12 Running Backs Coach of the Year by Our Coach Network after leading OSU's stout rushing attack this season.

Wozniak's running backs accounted for 3,906 rushing yards and 50 rushing touchdowns this season, including an average of 5.3 yards per carry this season.

His main contributor this season was Ollie Gordon, who was a force all season for the Cowboys. He finished with 1,732 rushing yards this season, which was tops in the country. He also had 21 rushing touchdowns this season for the Cowboys.

Gordon's success was recognized, for he was named an Unanimous All-American and received the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the nation's best running back.

Wozniak has coached many great running backs since he joined Oklahoma State in 2017. From Gordon to Justice Hill, Wozniak has had great success since being the leader of OSU's rushing attack.

In 2021, Wozniak led Jaylen Warren, and he turned Warren into a star in just one season with the Cowboys.

Warren finished with 1,216 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns in 2021, which led him to being named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

In 2019, Wozniak coached Chuba Hubbard, and he led Hubbard to great heights.

Hubbard finished with 2,094 rushing yards that season, which is ranked No. 2 for rushing yards in a single season in program history.

Hubbard was also named Unanimous All-American in 2019, and he was also a Doak Walker Award Finalist and a Walter Camp Player of the Year Finalist.

Now, Wozniak has Gordon, who is returning to the Cowboys for the 2024 season. With Gordon already having so much success and accomplishments in his career, who knows what Wozniak has up his sleeve for Gordon in 2024.
