Spring Football Preview: Tight Ends Looking to be a Bright Spot in Cowboys' Offense

Oklahoma State is returning one of the more experienced rosters in all of college football, but the tight ends are a question mark going into the season.

Oklahoma State's offense on paper is one of the more experienced rosters in the Big 12 and college football. From the running game to the passing attack, the Cowboys are returning most of the production from the 2023 season.

One question mark on the offense is the tight ends. With Josiah Johnson graduating, the tight ends are a question mark going into the season.

OSU did go to the transfer portal in the offseason, and it added Ohio transfer Tyler Foster, providing some depth and experience to the position group.

Out of all the positions, the tight ends are the position group with the most inexperience on the offense.

A competition between the position group will most likely take place in the spring and even in the fall before OSU's first game against South Dakota State. It might just be a revolving door where all four tight ends are getting playing time throughout the season.

Foster will be slotted high to start the spring. In his three seasons at Ohio, he recorded 33 catches for 396 yards and four touchdowns, with all four coming in the 2022 season with the Bobcats.

Quinton Stewart is one of the returners to the group this season. The senior didn't record any receiving stats last season, but he was primarily a blocker in the running attack.

Tabry Shettron is another player coming back this season, but he has seen no action in his first two seasons in an OSU uniform.

Josh Ford is the newcomer as he comes from Stillwater High School, where he collected six touchdowns in his high school career. When coming out of high school, ESPN ranked Ford as the No. 16-ranked recruit in the state of Oklahoma.
