Three Cowboys Earn Weekly Big 12 Honors

Three Oklahoma State Cowboys earned weekly Big 12 honors following the win over TCU

STILLWATER -- There's even more reason to celebrate Oklahoma State's win over TCU this past Saturday. Every Monday, the Big 12 releases its list of Big 12 weekly honors and Oklahoma State had three players make the list: Spencer Sanders, Chuba Hubbard and Kolby Harvell-Peel.

Hubbard was named the offensive player of the week, Harvell-Peel was named the defensive player of the week and Sanders was named the newcomer of the week. It marks Hubbard's third award of the season and the second award for both Sanders and Harvell-Peel.

Chuba Hubbard became the first player ever to rush for 200+ yards against a Gary Patterson-coached defense as he put up 223-yards and two touchdowns against the Horned Frogs. That took his total rushing yards up to 1,604 on the season, keeping him as the No. 1 running back in the country.

In addition to recording his fourth 200+ rushing performance on the season, Hubbard also recorded the fourth longest rushing play in Oklahoma State history with his third quarter 92-yard touchdown rush. It also happened the be the longest rushing play that TCU has allowed since the 1993 season.

As for the defensive player of the week, I don't think there was ever a doubt that Kolby Harvell-Peel was going to get that. It was also the second week in a row that Oklahoma State has had the defensive player of the week, Malcolm Rodriguez earned the award last week.

Harvell-Peel was all over the field against TCU. Not only did he record six tackles and two pass break ups, but he hauled in two interception and recovered a fumble.

I asked Harvell-Peel after the game if he's ever recorded a three turnover day and he said he never had, even going back to elementary ball.

As for Spencer Sanders, it might be the best game he's played all season. I'm not necessarily talking about statistic, but TCU is one of the best defenses in the country and Sanders didn't allow them to do much against him.

He finished the game with 246 yards of total offense and two touchdowns. He went 9-of-15 with 158 yards and two touchdowns through the air, and he rushed for 88 yards.
