Big 12 Football Recap: Winners and Losers of Week 12

Which teams had the best Big 12 performances in Week 12 of college football? Which teams had the worst?

Week 12 is over in college football, and we had some exciting contests, especially in the Big 12. With the regular season ending next Saturday, multiple teams will be vying for a spot in the conference championship game.

Oklahoma State started out slow, but it finished strong as it took the 43-30 victory over the Houston Cougars on Saturday.

Here are the Big 12's biggest winners and losers of this weekend of college football.

Winners:

Oklahoma State Cowboys: The way the Cowboys started their game against Houston was concerning. They got down 21-9 early in the second quarter, and it looked like it was going to be a repeat of the UCF game.

But, Oklahoma State showed some fight, including Ollie Gordon. He had 164 rushing yards and three touchdowns, all of them coming in the second half.

OSU kept its hopes alive for the Big 12 Championship game, for all it has to do on Saturday is take down BYU to earn a spot in the championship game.

Texas Longhorns: It is always hard for a team to go to Iowa State on a Saturday night, and that is what Texas did on Saturday.

Quinn Ewers looked like his usual self as he had 281 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Longhorns also had 123 rushing yards, including 117 yards coming from freshman running back CJ Baxter.

Texas is the most consistent team in the conference, and it will be hard for any team to stop them.

Losers:

Kansas Jayhawks: Kansas let one slip away against Kansas State. The Jayhawks had a 27-16 lead in the third quarter, looking like they were going to pull away from the Wildcats.

But Kansas State stormed right back to get the 31-27 victory. The win keeps its conference title hopes alive and moves them to 8-3 on the season.

While for Kansas, it would’ve been a statement victory, but it suffered its second-straight loss and any chance of making the conference championship game.

Iowa State Cyclones: For a team to beat Texas, you have to score more than 16 points.

The Cyclones' game plan of making it a physical, sloppy football game was working in the first half. The Longhorns made sure that didn’t happen in the second half.

It was already a surprising season for Iowa State as it is now 6-5 this season, but this loss does knock them out of the race to the conference championship game as well.
