The Ole Miss Rebels' 2023 football schedule looks rather favorable with 2022 Southeastern Conference bottom feeders Auburn, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M all on the docket.

The only three SEC teams that Ole Miss is slated to face that had winning records in conference play last season: Georgia, Alabama and LSU. That's where things could get tricky as the Rebels try to maneuver their way to an SEC West Championship and conference title game appearance.

ESPN's Greg McElroy has Ole Miss' week five Magnolia Bowl matchup against the LSU Tigers, which he said have a "loaded" roster and are in the conversation for a national championship run, as one of the 13 games on his "ultimate schedule" he revealed on "Always College Football" May 15.

"This is a rivalry game, more so for one than the other. I feel like Ole Miss ramps their level of play way up when they get to host the Bayou Bengals," McElroy said. "We know that this is going to be one of the best tailgating environments that we've ever seen before. When LSU goes to Oxford, man, two worlds collide that's for sure. So it should be an awesome matchup."

McElroy said getting quarterback Spencer Sanders in the transfer portal "significantly" improved Jaxson Dart's play under center to couple with the "excellent personnel at wide receiver" and the return of running back Quinshon Judkins.

The former Alabama quarterback and national champion said that this matchup in Oxford will be "one of the tougher games for LSU on the schedule."

McElroy had one question for new defensive coordinator Pete Golding.

"Will he be able to address some of the problems and the concerns that Ole Miss has dealt with defensively for quite a while?" McElroy said.
