Rebels Coach Lake Kiffin 'Struggles' Letting Aggies Jimbo Fisher Comments Go

The Jimbo Fisher vs. Lane Kiffin imbroglio just won't go away. And it won't end. It's like two eighth graders fighting over the same girl all through high school.

The constant jabs and back-handed comments continue even after the rest of us have forgotten there was even a situation there to begin with.

And now we know why. On Tuesday, the SEC held its spring meetings, giving the media the chance to talk to coaches about the upcoming season. And one of the questions posed to Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was about his social media digs at Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher.

“I struggle letting it go on those things sometimes. My [sports information director) tells me to let it go. But when someone says NIL has nothing to do with why someone signs with their place and they sign the best class in recruiting, I struggle with that statement,” Kiffin said.

The ribbing goes back to March 2022 when comments were exchanged between Kiffin and Fisher over NIL. The Aggies were accused of buying their "best recruiting class of all time" with the help of NIL funding, but Fisher denied it.

Kiffin took another shot last fall, ahead of the game between the Aggies and Rebels, “We got outbid. Kind of common theme with that program,” Kiffin said.

Then, as recently as March of this year, Kiffin couldn't resist keeping the heat on after Fisher after Fisher claimed the Aggies' shortcomings in their disappointing 5-7 season were due to poor execution rather than poor schemes.

“It’s not scheme,” Fisher said. “It’s execution. Everybody does the same thing. There’s not a hill of beans between anybody, as far as what goes on.”

Kiffin replied on Twitter, even involving Georgia coach Kirby Smart, “‘Everybody runs the same plays’ ???? Its (sic) only about the players executing?? ⁦@KirbySmartUGA FYI,” Kiffin tweeted.

Kiffin knows the digs and jabs are ill-advised, but he still admittingly can't help it. We'll see if the Kiffin-Fisher circus will continue into and through 2023.
