OXFORD, Miss. -- Athlon Sports honored the best players in the Southeastern Conference on Monday by unveiling the 2023 All-SEC Team, which features first, second, third, and fourth preseason all-conference teams.

The Ole Miss Rebels had six players selected to the preseason All-SEC team, including running back Quinshon Judkins (first-team), defensive end Cedric Johnson (third-team), offensive lineman Jeremy James (third-team), tight end Michael Trigg (third-team), cornerback Deantre Prince (fourth-team), and offensive lineman Micah Pettus (fourth-team).

The Georgia Bulldogs lead the way with 15 selections, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide with 12. The LSU Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Missouri Tigers all had at least 10 players selected.

Judkins was rightfully named RB1 in the preseason All-SEC team after the Ole Miss tailback led the conference in carries (274), rushing yards (1,567), and rushing touchdowns (16) as a true freshman in 2022. The reigning SEC Freshman of the Year has already been anointed a Top 15 player in college football heading into the 2023 season and was also recently named to the preseason All-America Team

Johnson earned third-team honors after recording 32 tackles, four sacks, and one fumble recovery last year as a senior. The veteran will be a key piece in Ole Miss' defensive line rotation this fall. Trigg joins Johnson on the third-team after registering 17 receptions, 156 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in his first season at Ole Miss. Trigg only appeared in seven games last fall due to injury but was still named to the 2022 John Mackey Award watchlist. Trigg will be a player to keep an eye on this fall if he can stay on the field. James was the final Rebel who received third-team honors. The redshirt senior will bring leadership and versatility to Ole Miss' offensive line this fall.

Pettus earned fourth-team honors going into the fall after being thrown into the fire early as a redshirt freshman in 2022. After being shuffled around last year due to injuries along the offensive line, Pettus eventually got his first start at right tackle versus the Vanderbilt Commodores in Week 6 and his performance earned him SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors. Prince is the veteran voice of the Ole Miss cornerbacks room entering next season. The Charleston, Miss., native earned fourth-team honors after recording 26 tackles, one TFL, one interception, and 12 pass breakups last fall.
