The Ducks have two wide receiver commitments in 2024 but they're in a great spot with another big name.

Oregon is building some momentum on the recruiting trail after landing 2024 Salem (Ore.) West Salem offensive tackle Trent Ferguson on Wednesday.

Now it appears that they could be surging with another big-name recruit in the 2024 class.

Calabasas (Calif.) wide receiver Aaron Butler was on campus in Eugene last weekend and has been predicted to Oregon by On3's director of recruiting Chad Simmons. He logged his prediction with 50% confidence.

Butler is listed at 6'0", 175 pounds and is rated a four-star (0.9613) recruit by the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 75 player nationally, the No. 5 Athlete, and the No. 10 recruit in California.

It's worth noting that previous momentum had been favoring Georgia, as both Steve Wiltfong and Greg Biggins logging picks for the Bulldogs with a six out of ten confidence rating.

Butler is working from a top five of Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Oregon and Washington that he released in February. He told Ducks Digest at UA Next that he plans to take an official visit to Colorado for the Buffs' spring game on April 22.

The Southern California standout also plans to take official visits to Georgia and Alabama and make a decision this summer.

Torres' Take

I've felt that Oregon was in a great spot for a little over a month and I don't think that's changed. If anything the buzz has only gotten stronger. It was hard to get a great feel for where his head was at because he spoke so highly of every school I asked him about but the Ducks have done some great work to make up ground here.

Like I said Georgia was a school that was trending earlier for the former USC commit and I know he holds Will Stein in very high regard. I expect that relationship only got stronger after his weekend trip to Eugene.

I know Oregon commits are recruiting him to Eugene, which always helps. The Ducks have done a lot of really good work on the recruiting trail in Southern California, but it's primarily been for defensive talent, at least in the 2023 class.

Fortunately they don't need to compete against USC, which should only help their chances. Junior Adams has asserted himself as one of the better recruiters in the Pac-12 and is generating more buzz nationally, especially after helping the Ducks hold onto five-star Jurrion Dickey in 2023.

I'm not ready to make my prediction on Butler just yet, but from what I'm hearing it certainly feels like they have the lead, at least for the time being.
