Former Pitt Star Jordan Whitehead Signs with Buccaneers

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers star Jordan Whitehead continues to collect millions as he hits the prime of his professional football career.
Whitehead, who started his career as a fourth-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018, will return to Tampa Bay on a two-year deal worth up to $10.5 million, according to a report from NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Whitehead started 55 of 59 games for the Buccaneers while playing on his rookie contract. He amassed 292 tackles, five interceptions, 25 passes defended and a Super Bowl ring during his time in Tampa Bay.
He signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the New York Jets before the start of the 2022 season but hit free agency this offseason.
Whitehead was a star during his three years with the Panthers. He started immediately as a freshman and earned ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2015. Whitehead ended his career with 235 total tackles and three interceptions. He was a weapon on offense, totaling 379 scrimmaged yards and three touchdowns in his college career.
