Pitt Transfer Target Commits to Mississippi State

The Pitt Panthers miss out on yet another transfer guard.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are still looking to improve their backcourt but to do so, they'll have to keep digging in the transfer portal, because one of their targets has committed elsewhere.

Marshall transfer Andrew Taylor, a prolific scorer and sharpshooter from Corbin, Kentucky, announced this week that he had committed to Mississippi State over the likes of Pitt, Ole Miss, Florida, Florida State, LSU and others.

Taylor has averaged double-figure scoring in each of his four seasons with the Thundering Herd, but took his game to new heights during the 2022-23 season.

Taylor averaged career-highs in points (20.2 per game), assists (4.7 per game), free throw percentage (80%), minutes (36.6 per game) and steals (2.1 per game). He made 45% of his two-point attempts and 36.4% of his 3-pointers on a personal-high of 19 shots per game.

He would have been a major lift to a Panthers backcourt that lost so much this offseason.
