Pitt Advances to ACC Semifinals Against North Carolina

In this story:
WASHINGTON, DC -- The Pitt Panthers have earned the right to play 40 more minutes of truly meaningful, postseason basketball after earning a hard-fought win over Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.
Pitt won 81-69 in the rubber match against the Demon Deacons, setting up another rematch - this time with top-seeded North Carolina in the semifinals at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Ishmael Legget scored a game-high 28 points. Blake Hinson added 20 points of his own. The Panthers led by as many as 19 points in the second half and had to hang on late.
North Carolina dominated Florida State in the game prior to Pitt's. They got 18 points from ACC Player of the Year, R.J. Davis and Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram combined for 23 points and 20 rebounds.
Pitt lost their first meeting with the Tar Heels, 70-57, at the Petersen Events Center in early January. The Panthers shot just 30% from the field and 14% from 3-point range in that loss. North Carolina won second-chance points 15-1 to create the difference.
Pitt will meet the Tar Heels in the first game of the semifinal round at 7:00 p.m. and ESPN will carry the broadcast.
