Pitt Basketball Announces Overseas Trip to Spain

The Pitt Panthers will travel to Barcelona and the Canary Islands this summer.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers will be taking their show on the road - overseas, in fact - for a 10-day trip this summer to Spain prior to beginning preseason preparations for the 2023-24 season.

"We are excited about the opportunity to take our team to Spain this summer," Pitt head coach Jeff Capel said. "This will be a great bonding opportunity for our program in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. I was fortunate enough to spend time in Barcelona and the Canary Islands with USA Basketball at the 2014 FIBA World Cup and am really looking forward to being there with our Pitt program."

Pitt is scheduled to spend four days in Tenerife, Canary Islands, the home of sophomore twins Jorge and Guillermo Diaz-Graham, before heading to Barcelona for the remainder of their trip. The Panthers will spend their time in the Canary Islands going on a private cruise, touring the city and playing an exhibition game.

The Panthers will then head to Barcelona, where they will tour the 1992 Olympic sites and play another exhibition game. They will also visit the coastal town of Sitges before heading home.

The trip to Spain will span August 5th to 14th.

This is the second time Pitt has taken a foreign trip during Capel's tenure. The Panthers visited Italy for 10 days prior to the start of the 2019-2020 season.
