Pitt Battling Virginia for Last ACC At-Large Bid

The last at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament from the ACC could come down to the Pitt Panthers and Virginia.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are still on the edge of the NCAA Tournament bubble but have just one team in their own conference to beat out, according to one member of the national media.

According to long-time college basketball reporter and analyst Jeff Goodman, Pitt and Virginia are the last two teams that will be left to battle for the fifth and final at-large spot available for ACC teams.  Goodman believes North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest and Clemson are solidly in and the Cavaliers and Panthers will have to

The Panthers made a big jump in the all-important NCAA NET rankings after a 15-point win at home over Virginia Tech this past weekend. They dropped from the NCAA Tournament bubble in many peoples' minds following an ugly 33-point loss to Wake Forest, who went on to beat Duke later in the week and virtually lock up their own at-large bid.

Pitt still has one opportunity left on their regular season schedule to pick up a marquee win when they travel to face Clemson in one day. After that, they'll hit the road again to face Boston College before hosting Florida State and N.C. State before venturing to Washington, D.C. for the ACC Tournament.
