Pitt Contacts Florida State Transfer Caleb Mills

The Pitt Panthers added another transfer portal guard to their recruiting board.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers' pursuit of transfer portal guards has led them back to the ACC. With their top four guards outgoing due to graduation, the Panthers are on the hunt and they have a new target.

Pitt's coaching staff reached out to Florida State transfer Caleb Mills, a popular name in the portal. Mills is also receiving interest from Arkansas, Memphis, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Kansas, Mississippi State, Minnesota, South Carolina and Houston, according to CBS college basketball correspondent Jon Rothstein.

Mills' next school will be his third and final after he transfered from Houston to Florida State and now looks to play elsewhere. This past season was one of the most productive of his career. He averaged 13 points, a career-high three rebounds and a lifetime-best 3.4 assists while starting 31 of 32 possible games.

He's been a prolific scorer at every stop but a streaky shooter. He has two seasons of 35% or better shooting from 3-point range and two seasons of sub-30% shooting from that distance. Mills is also an opportunistic defender, with a career average of 1.8 steals per game. He earned All-AAC honors with the Cougars in 2019-20 and made the AAC All-Freshman team that year as well.

Pitt has three scholarships to fill and all of them will be taken by transfer portal players.
