Report: Pitt G Jamarius Burton Working Out for Lakers

PITTSBURGH -- His stellar final season with the Pitt Panthers has made a career in professional basketball a likely reality for Jamarius Burton, who has been traveling around the country to work out for NBA teams this spring and summer.
Burton's next stop will be in Los Angeles later this week for a visit with the Lakers, according to a report from Dave McMenamin of ESPN. It will the former Pitt guard's third stop around the Association, with the Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies having gotten first looks at him.
Jamarius Burton - who was an All-ACC 1st team guard for Pitt - will work out for the Lakers this week, a source told ESPN. The five-year collegiate vet, who also had stints at Wichita State and Texas Tech, has also worked out for the Bucks and Grizzlies.

Burton, a transfer from Texas Tech and Wichita State who spent two seasons at Pitt, averaged 12.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game on 40% shooting from the field over 34 minutes per game during the 2021-22 season before making a massive leap in his final season of college basketball.
In 2022-23, Burton averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds per night while shooting 48.8% from the floor on the way to First-Team All-ACC honors.
The Lakers own picks No. 17 and 47 in this year's draft, but Burton is expected to go undrafted.
