PITTSBURGH -- Following another dominant week at the Petersen Events Center during which included dominant wins over Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville, the Pitt Panthers continued to rise up national rankings.
College basketball insider Andy Katz elevated the Panthers five spots in his latest Power 36 rankings to No. 31 nationally and No. 6 in the ACC and Katz took time to recognize freshman standout Bub Carrington in the process.

"The Panthers have one of the best freshmen in the country in Carlton Carrington," he wrote.
No. 8 Miami, No. 10 Duke, No. 14 Clemson, No. 19 North Carolina and No. 26 Virginia are the only other ACC teams that Katz ranked ahead of the Panthers this week.
While Pitt looked impressive through the first two weeks of the season, the level of competition takes a significant step up this week as they travel to Brooklyn for the NIT Preseason Tip-Off at the Barclays Center. They'll draw Florida in their first game at the event and one of either Baylor (ranked No. 9 in the Power 36) or Oregon State in their second contest.
Katz listed Pitt-Florida as one of the 10 best events and games in college basketball to watch this week.
