Pitt F William Jeffress to Miss Six Weeks With Foot Injury

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- The injury bug has bitten the Pitt Panthers long before their season is set to begin. The team announced this afternoon that junior forward William Jeffress had suffered a left foot injury and will be sidelined for the next six weeks.
The good news for Pitt and Jeffress is that the season opener against UT Martin is more than seven weeks out. He'll have plenty of time to get ready for the coming regular season, according to head coach Jeff Capel.
“Will suffered a foot injury last week and evaluations by our medical staff determined the need to shut him down for a few weeks,” Capel said. “Will was having a strong fall and we are excited about his continued development. This injury is a minor setback, but we anticipate that he will make a full recovery and be ready to return to the court in October.”
The Panthers will hold their first official practice in two weeks and play their first exhibition game of the preseason against Clarion University in roughly six weeks. They are slated to play another exhibition against Edinboro 11 days later.
Jeffress, a former four-star recruit from Erie, Pennsylvania, averaged 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in just over 20 minutes per game in 31 appearances - 16 of which were starts - last season.
