Pitt Football's Calijah Kancey, Carter Warren Named to Outland Trophy Watch List

Two of the Pitt Panthers' best linemen are garnering preseason accolades.

PITTSBURGH -- Defensive lineman Calijah Kancey, the anchor of the Pitt Panthers' front four, has already been named a preseason All-American and All-ACC player and he, alongside offensive tackle Carter Warren, is adding to the long list of preseason accolades. On Tuesday, Kancey and Warren were named to the Outland Trophy watch list.

Two former Panthers - offensive lineman Mark May in 1980 and defensive lineman Aaron Donald in 2013 - have won the Outland Trophy, which honors the best lineman in college football, before.

Warren started all 14 games that Pitt played last season, protecting starting quarterback Kenny Pickett's blindside for the entire season. He earned second team All-ACC honors as the Panthers' starting left tackle.

Kancey has starred along the Panthers' defensive line for two years now. He led the team in tackles for loss with 12 and finished second in sacks with seven. Kancey earned first team All-ACC honors and was named a third team All-American by the Associated Press.
