Pitt Football's Deslin Alexandre Named to Weurffel Trophy Watch List

Pitt Panther defender Deslin Alexandre was recognized for his commitment to service on Thursday.

PITTSBURGH -- Super Senior defensive lineman Deslin Alexandre has been named the Pitt Panthers' lone representative on the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, a collection of nominees from every team in Division I that make a special impact in their community through service.

The award is given by the National Football Federation to 'college football athletes who are serving others, while also achieving greatness on the football field and in the classroom'. The trophy is intended to celebrate these players and 'inspire greater community service in the world'.

Alexandre was also named a nominee for the American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, which recognizes college football players for their 'exemplary service, alongside their academic dedication and impact on and off the field'.

This offseason, Alexandre used his NIL rights to found the Fifth Down for Hati campaign, which raises money to provide basic needs like food and quality education for kids in Cap-Haitien, Hati, where Alexandre was born.
