PITTSBURGH -- The end of training camp brought good news for former Pittsburgh Panthers tight end Lucas Krull, who officially inked an undrafted rookie contract with the New Orleans Saints. Details about the terms of his contract have not yet been reported. Krull posted a picture on Twitter marking the occasion.

Krull missed all of the 2020 season with a knee injury but was a tremendous addition to Pitt's prolific passing offense in 2021. He caught 37 passes for 443 yards and six touchdowns in his final collegiate season. Krull earned second-team All-ACC honors and helped the Panthers win an ACC Championship title. His six scores are the most by a Pitt tight end since Dorian Dickerson caught ten in 2009.

Krull is one candidate to fill a position of desperate need for the Saints, who had some of the worst tight-end production of any team in the NFL. Krull is a welcome addition for the Saints, who can use his speed and athleticism to improve a position group that caught 49 passes all season long.
