Pitt Laughs Off Kenny Pickett's Hand Size

The Pitt Panthers aren't having the hand size conversation.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers had a large showing at their 2022 Pro Day, with plenty of eyes coming to see quarterback Kenny Pickett. The Heisman finalist is considered possibly the top passer in the 2022 NFL Draft, but teams came to see one last showing of his "smaller" hands.

Pickett measured in with 8 5/8" hands at Pro Day, an eight of an inch wider than his NFL Combine measurement.

"The stretches work," Pickett laughed. "It's the reason I was doing them, and if it helped me get an eighth of an inch I'll take it."

Pickett's hand size did sneak it's way into the Pro Day conversation, but his Panthers teammates aren't believers in the belief it impacts his play.

"He slung 60-yarders to us, so we know that hand size hasn't been a problem," wide receiver Melquise Stovall said. "We kind of chuckle about and keep working."

"He prolly got a little bit better," Stovall added on Pickett's performance at Pro Day. "We had to fine tune it, touch up our training. His ball was really well."

Pickett's hands will remain a topic of conversation throughout the draft season. He'll remain a potential top-10 pick, but a club's belief in the hand size conspiracy could hold them back.

Not that it should. At least that's what Pitt says.

"Look at the tape," tight end Lucas Krull said. "The issue is you want to try to find something to knock a guy on in the media. You can't find it on the game field so okay, maybe you think he has small hands. He shows he can throw it 65-yards on the dot. I don't think that's an issue."
