Pitt OT Carter Warren Suffers Season-Ending Injury

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- Pat Narduzzi said that during the bye week, his Pitt Panthers had been getting healthier, but they still did suffer one devastating loss. Narduzzi announced that starting left tackle Carter Warren, a captain and three-year starter, had suffered a season-ending injury. This is his last year of eligibility, meaning his college career at Pitt is over.
Warren has been a stalwart left tackle since the 2019 season. He started 13 contests during his redshirt sophomore season and made eight more starts the following year. The 2021 campaign, when he started all 14 games during the Panthers' ACC Championship run, was his strongest. He could have elected to turn pro last spring, but instead opted to return to school and was named a captain prior to the beginning of the 2022 season.
He started the first four contests of this year before suffering his undisclosed injury following the Rhode Island game. Narduzzi said Warren, who will now turn his attention to a career in the NFL, checks a lot of boxes that scouts look for in a tackle, including sharp instincts, long arms and size.
Narduzzi added that Branson Taylor is among the candidates to replace Warren at left tackle. Matt Goncalves will swing between right and left tackle and Ryan Baer can expect a chance to contend for snaps on the end of the offensive line.
