PITTSBURGH -- Another former Pitt Panthers player has become the victim of the NFL's roster cut deadline.
Deslin Alexandre, a former captain and defensive end at Pitt, was waived by the New York Jets this after signing as an undrafted free agent in the days following the NFL Draft.
Over four preseason games with New York, Alexandre amassed nine total tackles and a sack.
Alexandre, a team captain for the Panthers this past season, was named the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year for his off-the-field efforts to raise money for impoverished children in his home country of Haiti and other charitable work in the Pittsburgh community. He was also named to the AFCA Good Works Team, won the Coach Wooden Citizens Cup and won the prestigious Pitt Blue-Gold Award.
On the field, Alexandre was a steady member of Pitt's dominant defensive line.
