Dolphins Cut Former Pitt DT

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- The Miami Dolphins have waived a former Pitt Panthers defensive lineman who had spent the past two seasons with them.
Jaylen Twyman, a former sixth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings who signed with the Dolphins practice squad last season and re-signed with them on a reserve/futures contract during the offseason, was part of a large roster cut this week, little more than 24 hours before the deadline to trim NFL rosters from 90 to 53 players

Twyman had worked his way back from multiple gunshot wounds, sustained just months after he was drafted 199th overall by Minnesota in the 2021 NFL Draft. He sat out all of the 2021-22 season while recovering from those injuries and returned to the field in June for training camp. He appeared in all three preseason games for the Vikings, recording seven total tackles.
Across his two seasons with the Dolphins, Twyman appeared in five preseason games, recording 12 total tackles and 1.5 sacks.
At Pitt, he was named a second-team All-American and earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2019 after recording 41 tackles, 10.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 13 games. He opted out of the 2020 season.
