Report: Pitt QB Nick Patti Did Not Travel to Western Michigan

The Pitt Panthers' backup quarterback didn't travel with the team this weekend.

PITTSBURGH -- According to a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel, the Pitt Panthers will be down at least one quarterback when they take on Western Michigan tonight. Nick Patti did not make the trip to Kalamazoo for tonight's game while starter Kedon Slovis remains a game-time decision, as head coach Pat Narduzzi said earlier in the week. Both sustained injuries in last week's loss to Tennessee.

So if Slovis does not play, the job will fall to either Nate Yarnell or Derek Kyler, who had been battling for the third-string job throughout camp. Narduzzi said this week that the team had been preferential to Yarnell in practice so far, but that didn't necessarily mean he'd be next up on gameday. He was the third quarterback listed on each of the first three depth charts released this season. Neither player has appeared in an FBS football game during their careers.
