Former Pitt WRs Make NFL Debuts

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- Week 1 of the 2023 NFL Preseason opened this week and the Pitt Panthers were well-represented as the Texans, Patriots, Vikings and Seahawks played their preseason openers.
Two former Panthers receivers - Texans undrafted free agent Jared Wayne and Vikings first-round pick Jordan Addison - took an NFL field for the first time in their careers.
Wayne finished with one catch for 19 yards, good for the third-most on the team. Case Keenum hit him over the middle after Wayne shook Patriots corner Rodney Randle Jr.
Former Pitt offensive lineman Jimmy Morrissey was playing guard during the play. He also ran with the Texans' second and third-teamers in the 20-9 win over New England.

Addison was credited with just one catch for 22 yards in the Vikings' 24-13 loss at the Seattle Seahawks. He started and slid for a diving first-down reception from second-string quarterback Nick Mullens. He made another remarkable attempt at a ball floating out of bounds, hauling it in and appearing to get two feet down as he fell away, but officials ruled him out of bounds.
At least one of Addison's former teammates from Pitt was watching and rooting for him and thought he should have gotten the call.
