PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are closing on filling out their backcourt with a coveted mid-major transfer after he named them to his list final six schools.

Former Mount St. Mary's guard Dakota Leffew released a set of finalists this week and he included Pitt alongside Villanova, Syracuse, Xavier, South Carolina, Georgia and Xavier. On3's Joe Tipton posted on Twitter that Leffew had narrowed a list that included plenty of high-major schools. He is a graduate transfer with one year of eligibilty remaining.

Leffew, a first-team All-MAAC selection in 2024, averaged 17.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He ranked third in the conference in scoring and fifth in assists. He shot 43% from the field, 36.5% from 3-point range and 76.5% from the free throw line. Leffew stands 6'5 and weighs 185 pounds.

The Panthers got good news in the wake of Bub Carrington's announcement that he would forgo his remaining college eligibility and declare for the 2024 NBA Draft, with both Ishmael Leggett and Jaland Lowe announcing that they would be back for another season at Pitt in 2024-25. Now the Panthers are looking to add some support around them and Leffew could be the missing link in the backcourt.
