Purdue vs. Washington live game blog
4th quarter
10:30 — Washington 38, Purdue 26. The Huskies only need 48 seconds to respond. Trey Cooley finds a hole in the defense and races to the end zone on a 53-yard run. 110 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries for the UW running back.
11:18 — Washington 31, Purdue 26. The offensive line held up well that time, and while Ryan Browne couldn't find a receiver, he scrambled and found his way into the end zone. That's a huge touchdown for the Boilermakers. They failed the 2-point conversion, though.
11:26 — Purdue faces 3rd-and-5 and takes a timeout. Key play right here for the Boilers.
13:31 — Purdue takes a shot down the field and connects. A 49-yard completion from Ryan Browne to Asaad Waseem. That could be the spark the offense needs. The Boilers need a couple scores, but a touchdown would give this group some much-needed confidence.
14:12 — Washington 31, Purdue 20. A great catch by Dezmen Roebuck for a touchdown. Washington has a two-score lead. Unless the Boilers can find some magic offensively, that might be enough separation in this one.
3rd quarter
END — Washington 24, Purdue 20. The Huskies are knocking on the door of another touchdown. If Purdue can get a stop, it will have a chance. If Washington can get into the end zone, it's going to be hard for the Boilermakers to make a comeback, considering how poorly the offense has played.
0:18 — Purdue had Washington in a 3rd-and-long, but Washington was able to convert because of a pass from Elijah Brown to Justice Williams for 18 yards. That was an opportunity for the Boilermakers to force the Huskies to kick a field goal. Instead, UW has a chance to take a two-score lead.

3:33 — Washington 24, Purdue 20. Purdue's offense can't do much with the turnover. Jacobo Echeverria Lozano kicks a long 48-yard field goal to pull the Boilermakers a little bit closer. The Boilers NEED to get touchdowns in this game. It's hard to believe they lead the turnover battle by four and still trail.
6:44 — Elijah Brown throws his third interception of the night. This time, it's linebacker Jojo Hayden who came up with the pick. Can the offense take advantage? The defense has delivered multiple times. Purdue is plus-4 in the turnover category, but still trail by a touchdown.
6:48 — Purdue attempts to go for it on 4th-and-2 but Ryan Browne's pass to Asaad Waseem was incomplete. The Boilers wanted a flag, but they don't get it. They're now 0-of-2 on 4th-down tries tonight. A rough night for the offense continues.
10:12 — Keyshawn Burgos flies in on 3rd-and-13 and sacks Washington's Elijah Brown for a big loss. That forces the Huskies to punt the football. A really good stand for the Boilermaker defense after the Huskies had a couple nice plays on that drive.
The Purdue offense needs to put together a long drive and give the defense a break.
13:57 —Purdue's first offensive possession of the second half goes 3-and-out. The offense is really struggling tonight. It's up to the defense to get a stop.
Halftime
- Purdue has really struggled offensively today. Ryan Browne is just 8-of-16 for 73 yards. The Boilers have rushed for 93 yards on 16 carries, but 59 of those yards came on an Antonio Harris run in the second quarter. Take that away and Purdue is averaging just 2.12 yards per carry.
- Although he threw a pair of interceptions, Washington QB Elijah Brown has thrown for 177 yards and has completed 13-of-17 passes. His top target has been Chris Lawson, who has four catches for 76 yards.
2nd quarter
END — Washington 24, Purdue 17. The Huskies offense has been plagued by turnovers, but still leads by a touchdown. The Boilers still gave up way too many yards, but the offense didn't hold up its end of the bargain in the first quarter.
0:27 — Washington 24, Purdue 17. That penalty is really costly for the Boilermakers. It sure feels like the Huskies were gifted a touchdown just before halftime.
0:55 — Purdue gets a third-down stop, but Purdue linebacker Jojo Hayden is flagged for a late hit on the quarterback. Barry Odom was irate after that play. That was a bad call.

2:00 — We've reached the two-minute timeout in West Lafayette. A great Friday night game. The Boilers would love to get a stop to close out the half and take some momentum into the locker room.
2:35 — Purdue 17, Washington 17. One play after Saunders recovered the fumble, Fame Ijeboi races 10 yards to the end zone to tie the game. The Boilermakers have three takeaways in this contest and are starting to take advantage. That was huge for Purdue.
2:39 — Purdue catches a break on special teams for the second week in a row. A punt from Dylan Drennan hits off the foot of a Washington player and Don Saunders recovers it. Great field position for the Boilers.
3:41 — Ryan Browne has been using his legs a little more effectively on this drive and its paying off for Purdue. He's picked up a pair of first downs on the ground, opening some things up for the offense.
6:27 — Washington 17, Purdue 10. The Boilers forced Washington into a 2nd-and-24 because of a holding call and a good pass rush. But Brian Bonner caught a short pass from Elijah Brown and raced 26 yards to the end zone.
That's a devastating drive for the Purdue defense, which had played so well to that point. Washington has crushed the Boilers on the ground. Led by Trey Cooley, it is up to 115 yards on 14 carries.

Antonio Harris with the 59 yard rush! pic.twitter.com/is2yQpxCtt
8:28 — Purdue 10, Washington 10. Antonio Harris gets into the end zone and we have a tie game in West Lafayette. Harris deserved that one after his big run to get into the red zone. That was an excellent response from Purdue after struggling on the first three possessions.
The Huskies were flagged for a pass interference on third down that helped keep Purdue on the field. Costly mistake for Jedd Fisch's squad.
10:28 — Unbelievable run by Antonio Harris. He was initially shut down at the line of scrimmage, but was able to shift to the outside and raced down the field for 59 yards with Ryan Browne out in front as his lead blocker. Big run for Harris and the best offensive play of the day for the Boilermakers so far.
12: 40 — Washington 10, Purdue 3. Although the Huskies drove the football well on that possession, a false start penalty and a broken up pass by Purdue's Jeremy Lewis ends the drive. Washington gets a field goal from Tyler Robles to go ahead by a touchdown. Bend but don't break possession there for the Purdue defense.
1st quarter
END — Washington 7, Purdue 3. The Boilermakers have played well defensively, getting a pair of picks in the first quarter. The offense, on the other hand, didn't do much in those first 15 minutes. The Boilers need to get going on that side of the field. It's never good to be plus-2 in turnovers but trailing on the scoreboard.
1:54 — Washington 7, Purdue 3. The Boilers can't get into the end zone, but Jacobo Echeverria Lozano comes in and converts a field goal to get his team on the board. Purdue has recorded a pair of interceptions, but has only gotten three points out of them. Failing to turn those into touchdowns is significant early in this one.
2:04 — Washington takes a timeout. Purdue's offense faces a 3rd-and-goal from the 5-yard line. The Boilers were down to the 1-yard line, but a false start penalty moved them back.

3:54 — The defense did its job again! This time it's Smiley Bradford coming up with an interception on Washington's first pass play of that drive. Purdue starts with the ball at the Washington 19-yard line. It's imperative that the Boilermakers take advantage of this opportunity.
4:53 — Purdue's offense is really struggling in the first half. Ryan Browne is just 3-of-5 for 20 yards to start. More importantly, though, the Boilers can't get much going on the ground. Fame Ijeboi has five carries for 13 yards. Offensive coordinator Josh Henson needs to get a little more creative with play-calling to pick up some yardage against Washington's defense.

6:19 — Washington 7, Purdue 0. Great play call from Washington. Elijah Brown connects with Decker DeGraaf for a two-yard touchdown pass. That was an impressive response from Washington after a disastrous drive to start this game.
Washington had a short field to work with because of the Purdue turnover on downs on its first possession. Can the Boilermakers respond?
7:55 — The previous play is under review after Chris Lawson tip-toed down the sideline. This will give the Purdue defense a bit of a break. The Huskies are driving and are knocking on the door of the end zone.
9:14 — Washington is starting to move the ball down the field now. The Huskies picked up a 3rd-and-6 and have gotten the ball down to the Purdue 19-yard line. A good follow-up drive for UW.
11:39 —Purdue attempted to go for it and 4th-and-2, but Fame Ijeboi didn't have much of a chance on that run play. Washington's Jacob Lane makes a great tackle to end the drive. It would have been huge for the Boilers to come away with points there.
14:47 — Hudauri Hines makes one heck of a play to start this game off. Elijah Brown dropped back for a long pass, but Hines had the receiver covered well and intercepts the pass. A great start for the Boilers.
15:00 — Purdue kicks off and Washington's offense will start the game on the field. How will quarterback Elijah Brown start on this drive?
Pregame
- Some big news heading into Friday night's game. Washington will not startquarterback Demond Williams Jr., according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. He suffered a rib injury last week against Iowa. The Huskies will start Elijah Brown, who threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns while completing 28-of-39 passes. Williams is officially listed as a "game-time decision."
Kickoff between Purdue and Washington is set for 8 p.m. ET. The game will air on FOX.
What's at stake
Purdue Boilermakers
Purdue is on the verge of getting back on the right side of the .500 mark. With a win over Washington, the Boilermakers would improve to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten heading into the bye week. A bowl berth would be back in the conversation, needing just two victories with five games left on the schedule.
The last time Purdue won three straight games was in November 2022, defeating Illinois, Northwestern and Indiana on its way to a Big Ten West title. This is a chance for the Boilers to head into the bye week with a lot of momentum.
Washington Huskies
Before the season started, Washington was expected to be one of the Big Ten's challengers for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Instead, the Huskies are hunting their first conference victory. They're 0-3 heading into West Lafayette, seriously hoping they can get in the win column.
Washington has struggled on both sides of the football and will be without starting quarterback Demond Williams Jr., at least for the start of the game. This is going to be a difficult task for Jedd Fisch's team, but perhaps the lack of film on quarterback Elijah Williams will be an advantage for the Huskies.
