Mark Kingston and the Gamecocks will host Georgia Southern in their midweek game. They are just above 500 on the year thus far and could challenge this Carolina team with a pitching staff that is averaging nearly eight strikeouts per game. The staff also has an opposing batters' average of .268 while giving up roughly nine hits a game. South Carolina has still struggled at times, mainly with runners in scoring position.

While this Southern pitching staff only walks a few batters, Carolina can add multiple-run innings if they convert those opportunities. South Carolinas pitching staff, on the other hand, should be able to attack the zone aggressively and force Georgia Southern to put the ball in play. With only 19 home runs as a team, this is a moderate power team but can get one out of the park. Overall, the goal is still the same: continue to improve with runners and find a way to be consistent.
