The task of rebuilding the Gamecocks' roster was expected to be difficult, but Head Coach Lamont Paris has been working tirelessly scouring for talent in the transfer portal. Friday afternoon, a transfer portal target for the Gamecocks, Myles Stute, stopped by Columbia for a visit with the team.

Before entering the transfer portal, Stute played three years of SEC basketball with the Vanderbilt Commodores. Though he was just a three-star coming out of high school, Stute carved out a significant role with Vanderbilt, mainly because of his knock-down three-point shooting.

Over the past two seasons, Stute has shot 43.2% and 36.1% from three, something extremely desirable to South Carolina, considering the team shot 32.3% from behind the arc this past season and lost their top three-point shooter in Chico Carter Jr. to the portal earlier on this offseason. Stute also adds height, something the team needs to recuperate following the losses of Hayden Brown and GG Jackson.

Stute stands at 6-7 and can be a consistent rebounder as a wing. Stute's 4.6 rebounds a game last season would be more than serviceable for the Gamecocks, especially considering Josh Gray will likely have a significant role on the team this coming Winter.

Stute can also play significant minutes for the Gamecocks, having averaged over 24 minutes a game with Vanderbilt for the past two seasons. Landing Stute would not be a world-shaking move for the Gamecocks, but he is the type of player that can help build successful rosters.
