South Carolina's men's basketball team was simply no match for the Auburn Tigers, seeing their run in the SEC Tournament end on Friday.

South Carolina's men's basketball team came into the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament looking to get revenge against the Auburn Tigers for the beatdown they suffered on the plains just a month ago. However, outside of the start to this matchup, the Tigers delivered a similar drubbing to the Gamecocks in Bridgestone Arena on Friday afternoon.

In the game's opening minutes, both teams made it a point to try and get to the basket, whether that meant getting the ball down on the low block, or in Auburn's case, using 'nascar cuts' where guards would curl sharply from the wing and straight to the rim. The Tigers were getting some more easy looks for themselves while Carolina, putting forth a valiant fight, were having to make tough 'effort baskets'.

After cutting Auburn's lead down to one point at the 12:32 mark, Bruce Pearl's squad would put their foot on the gas, going on a 13-0 run over the next 4 minutes and 43 seconds of play, continuing to attack the paint area and putting themselves in advantageous spots, while Carolina was unable to create any open looks for themselves, making only two of their last eleven shots and turning over the ball five times in that stretch. All of these factors culminated in a 20-point halftime deficit for Lamont Paris' squad.

In the second half, things didn't get any better for the Gamecocks, who shot just 28 percent from the floor on just four assists, the polar opposite of what Lamont and his staff look for offensively. Auburn on the other hand, shot 48.3 percent from the floor in the final twenty minutes. South Carolina will now wait to see where they'll be going and who'll they be playing when Selection Sunday takes place just two days from now.
