Gamecocks Win Big, 101-19, Over Mississippi Valley State

South Carolina's women's basketball team continued to be dominant in a big win over Mississippi Valley State.

The Gamecocks started fast, with Raven Johnson and Te-Hina Paopao making four of their first six shots, including three from behind the arch. They did a great job attacking the boards and getting six second-chance points in the first quarter.

The second quarter was the same for Kamilla Cardosa and the Gamecocks. It continued to be efficient from the field and attack the boards on both sides of the court. MiLaysia Fulwiley had a solid quarter, scoring 6 points, one assist, a rebound, and a block, leading them to an 18-2 run to finish the first half.

To start the second half, Raven Johnson was efficient in every game aspect. Johnson was perfect from the floor with 5 points, three rebounds, two steals, and 2 assists. Second-chance points and points off turnovers continued to trend the way of the Gamecocks, with 15 of their 25 points coming from them.

In the game's final quarter, Fulwiley led the way with 8 points in the 4th, finishing the game just as dominant as a team as the first. The Gamecocks shot exceptionally well in the fourth quarter, finishing at 77% while holding Mississippi Valley State to three points throughout the quarter.

Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks set a new school record holding a team to 19 points and improved to 5-0 after another dominating win. They will look to continue their momentum heading into the ACC/SEC Challenge in Chapel Hill against currently 18th-ranked North Carolina Tar Hills.
