Due to the special bonds that South Carolina fans create with those who decide to dawn the garnet and black threads as a player, the Gamecock faithful always make it a point to keep up with those who have come through Columbia, whether they continue to play or become a coach. Travelle Wharton is one of a select few who have not only played for Carolina but also spent a season coaching with the team as an offensive quality control coach in 2015, unfortunately, the same season that Steve Spurrier retired, leaving the staff in flux.

Since then, Wharton has coached in the NFL for two different franchises, the Carolina Panthers and the Washington Commanders, spending all of those years under head coach Ron Rivera. Sadly, Travelle wasn't retained along with the majority of Rivera's staff when they were let go at the end of the 2023 season, but the good news for Gamecock fans is that the Palmetto State native has found another job, this time as an assistant offensive line coach for the Baltimore Ravens.

Wharton joins a staff that was just one win away from reaching Super Bowl 58 earlier this year, so stability hopefully won't be an issue this time around for the former Gamecock.
