On a rare Christmas Day edition of Monday Night Football, the Baltimore Ravens and San Fransisco 49ers, two teams who have former South Carolina Football stars on their respective roster, battled for supremacy over the perceived notion of who the best team in the NFL is currently. Both squads came into this cross-conference matchup sitting at 11-3, tied for the best win percentage in the league.

Most pundits and fans saw this game playing out in three ways: a close win for either side or a convincing win for the 49ers, a team that had bludgeoned some of the other top Super Bowl contenders in the NFL at different points this season. In the end, however, the Ravens emerged victorious in dominating fashion, with five forced turnovers leading the charge.

Baltimore's defense has been viewed as one of the best in the league this year, which is why many people think the Ravens could make a deep playoff run. One of the defenders who's helped boost that unit is former Gamecock Jadeveon Clowney, who's had a bounce-back 2023 season after a statistical dropoff in 2022.

Clowney recorded one sack in last night's victory over San Fransisco. While he might not be quite the consistent gamewrecker he once used to be, the South Carolina native absolutely possesses the ability to make a game-changing play or alter the complexion of an opposing team's drive every so often.

When you look at the cast of Pro-Bowl caliber players surrounding Jadeveon and the MVP playmaking ability of Lamar Jackson, this might be the 10-year NFL veteran's best chance of getting a ring, a possibility that seems all the more likely after what took place in the city by the bay on Monday.
