The South Carolina Gamecocks are being well represented in several high school all-star games over the next several weeks, the most notable of which is the Under-Armour All-American Game. Seven Gamecock signees were selected for this game: QB Dante Reno, WR Debron Gatling, CB Jalewis Solomon, OL Kam Pringle, EDGE Dylan Stewart, P Mason Love, and TE Michael Smith.

The biggest name out of this aforementioned group is, of course, Dylan Stewart, a five-star edge rusher for whom South Carolina beat out several historic programs in the 2024 cycle. One of the reasons why Gamecock coaches and fans alike are so excited about Stewart are the physical and athletic intangibles he brings to the field, and those intangibles were on display on Saturday in practice No. 1 to such a degree that Dylan was named the Alpha Dog by 247Sports' Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins:

"Stewart didn’t make our “All-Lobby” team from Friday, which was a clear oversight because he looked like an NFL pass rusher in pads. Stewart is listed at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds. That might be accurate, but he’s full of muscle, and should eventually be able to carry 265 pounds or more," Ivins opined. "Again, there wasn’t a ton of competition in the opening practice, but when Stewart’s team scrimmaged for 10 minutes, he had his way on the edge, generating plenty of push. The highlight of the night for him came when he blew up a jet sweep for a big loss," Andrew recalled. "We have lauded Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks for what they did on the offensive line in the 2024 recruiting cycle with the addition of Josiah Thompson and others, but Stewart is just as big of a win as he has the makeup of a potential game-wrecker in the SEC," Ivins concluded.
