Complex. That's the word that many people have used to describe South Carolina's offense from 2022. This offense possessed so much potential based on their experience upfront and their talent at the skill positions, yet outside of the Gamecocks' final two regular season contests against Tennessee and Clemson, it never truly felt like that potential was unlocked.

Those within the program and the fanbase hope that new offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains can streamline the offense and, thus, allow the Gamecocks playmakers to decide how well the offense performs this year. So far, throughout Fall camp, Spencer Rattler, who returned to South Carolina partly because of Dowell Loggains, is enjoying the new offense.

"This is the best Fall camp I've ever been a part of. Offensively, I love everything we're doing," Rattler stated. "I don't feel any growing pains myself. The group has been gelling; we've been playing fast, [and] we've had a ton of explosive plays and touchdowns this camp, way more than last year for sure. So I feel like it's a complete [turnaround], but we've gotta come out and prove it, so we're just gonna keep stacking days, keep gelling, and keep creating that chemistry."

Considering how Loggains' offense is meant to take advantage of Rattler's strengths as a quarterback, it's good to hear that the gunslinger likes how things operate. Another player who likes this offense is tight end Joshua Simon, who transferred in from Western Kentucky this past offseason. Loggains has been noted as a coach who's receptive to feedback from his players, a facet of the new Gamecock offensive coordinator that the South Carolina native has enjoyed immensely.

"I like what coach Dowell Loggains is doing. That's my guy," Simon said. "He's a players coach, and anything we see, anything he sees, we can go to him and be like, 'Hey coach, what if I do it like this?' [and] 'Hey, what [do] you think about this?' I really like the offense, [and] it should be exciting."

If these words ring true for all of South Carolina's playmakers this Fall, then the Gamecocks could take a step forward in 2023.
