Lamont Paris, Gamecock MBB Seeing Positive Developments In The Transfer Portal

With South Carolina's men's basketball program losing their top three scorers from a team that led them to their first NCAA Tournament Appearance in seven years earlier this month, Lamont Paris knew that he would need to dive back into the portal this offseason, particularly at the guard position as Ta'Lon Cooper and Meechie Johnson both walk out the door. With the information that's come out in the past 24 hours, it seems that Lamont has narrowed his focus to two prominent targets at that position.

We'll start with the first bit of news, which was South Carolina making the top 6 group for UT-Martin transfer Jordan Sears, rated a four-star and Top 50 transfer by On3 Sports and 247Sports. Sears was one of the top 10 scorers in Division One this season, averaging 21.6 points per contest in 32 games. This morning, it was first reported by TheBigSpur.com that Furman transfer JP Pegues is set to take an official visit to South Carolina sometime this weekend. Pegues earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors this Winter, averaging 18.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Paladins.
