South Carolina In Talks With Blue Cain

After re-opening his recruitment from Georgia Tech, South Carolina is one of the many schools in talks with Blue Cain, according to On3's Joe Tipton. A talented shooting guard from Knoxville, TN, Cain led the nationally-recognized IMG Academy program in scoring, averaging 14.3 points, 2.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game.

Other schools that have reached out to Blue are Kansas, Auburn, Virginia, West Virginia, Nebraska, Florida, Georgia, and the new staff at Georgia Tech, among others. He had offers from Tennessee, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and South Carolina under Frank Martin before he committed to Georgia Tech this past year.

Blue is a playmaker that Lamont Paris and his staff could use in year two of their ongoing rebuild with South Carolina basketball going into the 2023–24 season. Both parties would have a lot to provide each other if South Carolina can land Blue Cain, who could be an excellent long-term solution at the guard position, and another freshman that could contribute from Day 1 like G.G. Jackson did this past year and what many believe four-star commit Collin Murray-Boyles will do this coming year. This staff can provide him with early playing time and the chance to have a team built around him for the next four years.
