BREAKING: Gamecocks Make Top 10 For 2025 4-Star DB Jontae Gilbert
When it comes to the 2025 recruiting class, Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks are in the game for several high-profile recruits. On offense, you have prospects like QB Ryan Montgomery, RB Justin Baker, WR Jayden Sellers, TE's Logan Brooking and Marshall Pritchett, and OT Jaylen Gilchrist. On defense, Clayton White and his staff are in contention for players like EDGE Taeshawn Alston, DT's Elijah Griffin and Amare Adams, and LB's Mantrez Walker and Tavion Wallace.
One other target that the Gamecocks have been on for quite some time is four-star defensive back prospect Jontae Gilbert. Gilbert has made countless visits to Columbia this calendar year and notably decommitted from Ohio State in late July after visiting the Gamecocks and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

That sequence of events was a tell-tale sign that South Carolina was heavily in the game for Gilbert then, and now there's evidence to back that notion, as the Gamecocks made Gilbert's Top 10 that he released on Friday.
Another thing of note is Gilbert is wearing South Carolina armbands and gloves in the photo used in the graphic above, so it seems Beamer and his staff are doing all the right things in this hotly contested recruitment.
