Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football coaching staff have now completed the Spring practice slate with their team, and have turned their attention back to the lifeblood of every major college football program, recruiting. For the Gamecocks in particular, this current transfer portal window, which ends on Saturday, is an important one as coach Beamer and Co. continue to try and possess immediate positions of need on roster, especially the edge position.

One of their targets in this window was Derrick McClendon, a transfer edge rusher from Florida State, who visited the program back on April 4th, and looked to be a significant target for the staff. As time passed, things remained quiet on this end, until Wednesday afternoon, when McClendon took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffalos.

With McClendon now off the board, questions will be raised regarding which transfer portal edge rushers the staff could now target. While Florida's Antwaun Powell and Oklahoma's Kevonte Henry could be intriguing options, one name that floated around a great deal on Wednesday was Syracuse edge rusher Jatius Greer, who was productive for the orange last season, recorded 33 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks, and is a South Carolina native that hails from Anderson.
