In the previous two seasons, the Gamecocks have possessed the 4th worst and 2nd worst rush defense units in the SEC respectively. Typically, when a team is working to try and acquire players who can help turn the tide in this regard, almost everyone universally thinks about adding players in the defensive front on both the defensive line and in the linebacker room. Very few people, however, thinks about how physical defensive backs can also be of assistance in rush defense, and that's what Torrian Gray and the rest of South Carolina's defensive coaching staff is getting in new commit Braydon Lee.

One of the first things that stands out about Lee is the contrast in terms of his actual size, being listed at 5'11.5 with a long wingspan, but only weighing around 160 pounds, which might give people the impression that Braydon would struggle with shedding off blocks in the run game and somewhat shy away from contact. Based on his junior season film at the Charles Herbert Flowers School in Springdale, MD, that notion couldn't be farther from the truth.

Lee isn't someone who tries to "thud tackle" opposing players, he fully embraces the physical side of the game of football, and showcased this both on defense and special teams for the Jaguars last fall. Braydon is also a corner whose attained great recognition skills in terms of diagnosing both what a quarterback is doing during a play and where he's looking to go with the football, which allows him to display his superb ball skills that he's developed in part due to his sparse time on offense at his high school.

Overall, Lee is a cornerback who could help change the perception of South Carolina's rush defense unit and also possesses traits that could make him a turnover-forcing machine for the Gamecock's secondary throughout his time in Columbia. Braydon Lee joins current high school teammate Mike Williams and former teammates in Desmond Umeozulu and Maurice Brown II as players from Charles Herbert Flowers who have either committed to play football or currently reside on the roster for South Carolina's Football program.
