Stanford's roster is far from complete following the conclusion of their season, and that has become more and more evident by their efforts to add guard talent out of the transfer portal.

The guard play has been the biggest hindrance of Stanford over the past few seasons, and while they do have four-star combo guard Kanaan Carlyle incoming, Jerod Haase is still looking to bolster their roster. This past season Stanford added Michael Jones from Davidson, marking the first transfer they had landed in program history, but Jones amounted to being just a solid role player. In their pursuits this time around in the portal they have a specific type, with four of the five guards they have been in contact with are averaging at least 11 points.

Haase clearly is looking to add someone who can facilitate the offense while also get a bucket himself. The latest guard they have been in contact with is as experienced as they come, in Northern Arizona guard Jalen Cone.

The North Carolina native and former four-star started his career at Virginia Tech where he averaged 8.5 points per game in a reserve role before he transferred to NAU, where he has since exploded. In two years in Flagstaff, Cone started 63 games and averaged nearly 19 points per game in year one, while averaging nearly 18 in year two. This season he posted 17.6 points per game, 2.5 assists, and nearly three rebounds per game while shooting 42% from the field and 40% from three.

Cone offers someone who can score from all three levels and would add a dynamic scorer that Stanford badly needs to make up for the loss of Spencer Jones. This past season Cone had outings of 29, 38, and 45 points showing he can carry the load if needed.

Aside from Cone, Stanford has reached out to Mike Mitchell Jr. (Pepperdine), Jackson Paveletzke (Wofford), Paxson Wojcik (Brown), and Kowacie Reeves (Florida).
