Stanford's current quarterback situation is far from solved, as four games into the season it is evident that aside from being a young team Troy Taylor doesn't yet feel comfortable enough to give either Ashton Daniels or Justin Lamson the reins.

The head coach made it clear ahead of Stanford's matchup with Oregon, that he is waiting for one of his two quarterbacks to step up and take the role. Until then, Taylor will be forced to rotate the two signal callers like he did at Sacramento State this past year.

However, while his current situation at quarterback is unclear, Stanford's quarterback of the future Elijah Brown is currently leading his high school program, Mater Dei (CA) to elite success. According to recent rankings powered by ESPN Recruiting, Brown and the Monarchs are the No. 1 high school program in the country ahead of other programs such as Bishop Gorman (NV), Chaminade-Madonna (FL), and Duncanville (TX).

Brown has led Mater Dei to a 5-0 record with notable wins over programs like No. 14 Kahuku and DMV power St. Frances Academy, making his high school record as the starter 34-1. Despite a rough game against St. Frances that saw him throw two picks but rush for his first touchdown of the year on the ground, Brown still has thrown for nearly 1,100 yards, 16 touchdowns to four interceptions, and has completed 67% of his throws.

The Mater Dei signal caller is currently the face of Taylor's first recruiting class at Stanford, which ranks as the No. 24 class in the country according to 247Sports.

Based on what we've seen from Stanford's current quarterbacks, Brown will have a chance to either win the starting job outright or eventually take over next year.
