While those around the country figured it would take Troy Taylor a while to get some steam on the recruiting trail, the former Sacramento State head coach has disproved all previous notions about the program.

After hosting an official visitors weekend with 17 recruits on campus, the Cardinal have been securing commitments left and right. The number is currently at eight public commitments, but is reported to be around 10 if not more by now. Stanford has seen their class from nearly No. 60 in the country to now they rank within the top-25.

Even with all of their catches, there is a big fish out there that the Cardinal are in a prime position to catch. 2024 four-star quarterback, Elijah Brown out of Southern California powerhouse, Mater Dei. Brown looks like the next great quarterback from a school that produced Matt Leinart, Matt Barkley, JT Daniels, and Bryce Young, as he has compiled a 29-1 record as the starter and could do a bit of everything.

It was reported by 247Sports on Thursday that Brown is nearing a decision, and that he could make it as soon as next week. Brown also told Greg Biggins that he no longer plans to take an official visit to USC, and will be deciding between UCLA and Stanford. A decision that most recruiting analysts believe should go in Stanford's favor, as 247Sports Jackson Moore even felt confident enough to enter a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Cardinal for Brown.

Brown is on the fringe of being a five-star recruit as he ranks as the No. 33 player in the country, and he's also the top quarterback that has yet to announce his destination. He is scheduled to partake in the Elite 11 finals next week which could be another feather in the cap for the already accomplished signal caller.

When talking to Biggins it was clear that Brown thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Stanford, and he could end up being Stanford's solution at quarterback in a year that they have been missing. Needless to say, Stanford fans all have the room in the world to be excited with what Troy Taylor has done in his first few months on the job.
