Heading into the 2023 season there are a lot of concerns around the youth of Stanford's football team, and while those worries are valid at some positions the Cardinal do return some veterans.

While the team is projected to have a down year this upcoming season, they do have a strong core to build around. Stanford had three players that were each named to a Preseason All-Pac-12 team, with one player representing every aspect of the game in offense, defense, and special teams.

Here are the three Stanford players that were honored, and how they did a season ago.

Joshua Karty, Kicker

First Team All-Pac-12

2022 Stats: 18-of-18 on FGS, 24-of-25 on XPs

The most automatic kicker in the country a year ago, Joshua Karty was Stanford's best offense down the stretch. As long as they could get in field goal range the Cardinal knew they could get points up on the board. Having a kicker that is as consistent as he is is a premium, especially when your offense could go through dry spells of getting the ball into the end zone.

Benjamin Yurosek, Tight End

Second Team All-Pac-12

2022 Stats: 49 catches for 445 yards, and 1 TD

Stanford's most proven and best option on offense comes from the tight end spot. Benjamin Yurosek could have easily declared for the draft after 2022, but opted to return and play for Troy Taylor. A decision that should pay off in a huge way for him, as Taylor's offense heavily features tight ends and with inexperience at wide receiver should make Yurosek the premier target. He also provides a much needed veteran presence for an offense with an unclear quarterback situation.

David Bailey, Linebacker

Three Team All-Pac-12

2022 Stats: 46 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles

As a true freshman David Bailey was one of the bright spots for Stanford on defense last season. Enrolling early gave him a leg up, and he was an instant starter for the Cardinal. With Bobby April III coaching him up, expect for him to take a huge leap in 2023 in his newer role on defense as an outside linebacker.
