On Wednesday, Stanford forward Cameron Brink added yet another impressive feat to her long list of achievements.

The senior who is WNBA-bound in a few weeks was awarded the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year after a historic defensive season. She racked up 127 blocks this season, breaking the previous record of 118 which she set last year. She also became just the second player since Breanna Stewart with 500 points, 300 rebounds, and 100 blocks in consecutive seasons. To the surprise of no Stanford fans, she led the country in blocks this season.

“It’s an incredible honor to be named the 2024 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year,” Brink said in a press release. “It may be an individual award, but it’s a testament to all the people who have poured into me, not only this season, but throughout my career at Stanford – my family, coaches, teammates, and friends. I wouldn’t be where I am without them and am extremely grateful for all their love and support.”

Brink recently played her final game as a Cardinal, as she and Stanfordcame up short against NC State in the Sweet 16. She does however walk away from Stanford as a four-time Pac-12 champ, an All-American, and an NCAA champion. She has a new challenge ahead of her as she has declared for the WNBA Draft where she is projected to go with the No. 2 overall pick to the Los Angeles Sparks according to ESPN.
