Dexter Dennis, the Texas A&M Aggies' lone senior guard, is officially onto the next chapter.

The 24-year-old transferred to the Aggies from Wichita State to fulfill his fifth and final year of eligibility after spending his undergraduate years with the Shockers. During the season, Dennis averaged 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds and made his presence known on the court by being a leader on both sides of the ball.

Following the Aggies' NCAA tournament loss to Penn State, Dennis got a heartfelt goodbye from his teammates and coach Buzz Williams, who thanked him for his time with the Aggies. At the time, his future was far from decided. All he knew was that his stint with Texas A&M was over.

Now, there's a little more clarity surrounding the guard's NBA chances.

Dennis set a pre-draft workout with the Pistons prior to last Thursday, but no squad picked him up through two rounds. Following the draft's conclusion, however, Dennis had the chance to sign with a team, where he joined the Orlando Magic's Summer League roster, the team announced Friday.

Dennis joins five other prospects, including Orlando's two first-round picks, Anthony Black and Jett Howard, on the roster headed to Las Vegas. His defense sets him apart from others at his position, while his age and experience makes his maturity a desirable trait.

Dennis' partnership with Black would mark the fourth time the two guards share a court — though the other three came against each other during the Aggies' SEC schedule. In the three games when they faced off against each other, Dennis outscored black 34-29, though the Razorbacks' prospect out-assisted Dennis 17-1.

The pair would make a nice duo for the Magic, and it could give Dennis the exposure he needs to sign with a team for the season — even on a two way deal.

Dennis' chance to show off his skills is just under three weeks away, during the NBA's 2k24 Summer League July 7-17 in Las Vegas.
