Aggies Add Highly-Touted Division II WR Jahdae Walker

Walker could potentially become a red zone factor for whichever Aggies' QB win the job this spring.

Jimbo Fisher is adding more talent to a loaded receiver room.

Texas A&M is adding former Grand Valley State receiver Jahdae Walker, according to his social media account. Walker is slated to join a talented room of playmakers that includes Ainias Smith, Moose Muhammad III, Evan Stewart, Noah Thomas and Jalen Preston.

Walker, a 6-4, 185-pound wideout, became a staple for the Division II program in his sophomore year. He recorded 30 catches for 623 yards and four touchdowns and averaged a team-high 20.7 yards per catch.

Several Power Five programs were interested in adding Walker to the roster after he announced his intent to enter the portal following spring practice last month. He fielded offers from BYU, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan State and Pitt before eventually meeting with A&M offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino.

In terms of addition, Walker should replace the departed Tyrin Smith, who initially committed to A&M before electing to leave before the start of spring practice. Smith led UTEP in receiving yards (1,039) and totaled seven TDs.

Walker now becomes the eighth transfer to join the Aggies prior to the regular season, joining quarterback Jaylen Henderson (Fresno State), running backs David Bailey (Boston College) and Jerry Johnson (Rice), linebacker J.D. Davis (Jackson State) and defensive backs Tony Grimes (North Carolina), Sam McCall (Florida State), and Josh DeBerry (Boston College).

The Aggies open the regular season at Kyle Field against New Mexico on Sept. 2.
