Aggies Coach Jimbo Fisher 'Very Pleased' with A&M RBs

The Texas A&M Aggies are beginning a new era at running back this season.

The Texas A&M Aggies experienced the luxury of having De'Von Achane handle the load of out of the backfield for the past three years.

But it seems like there won’t be much of a transitional gap this season at the position despite Achane’s move to the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.

When speaking to the media on Monday about what he saw from A&M’s second fall scrimmage, coach Jimbo Fisher had high praise for his running back room after seeing them in another live-game setting. Whether it’s Le’Veon Moss, Amari Daniels or talented freshman Rueben Owens, the Aggies seem ready to hit opposing defenses in more ways than one out of the backfield.

He also made sure to point out how well running backs coach Marquel Blackwell has managed with coaching all of the talent in front of him.

“You saw the backs run well,” Fisher said. “All those guys have talent… I was very pleased with our backs, and they can catch and block. Marquel has done well with that group. … Those guys had a really good day on Saturday.”

Last season, the Aggies didn’t have much rushing production to write home about behind Achane. Daniels was A&M’s second-leading rusher with 36 carries for 200 yards while Moss had 27 rushes for 114 yards and one touchdown. The duo was hardly a factor in the receiving game, posting just three catches for nine yards combined.

But with another offseason of an increased workload under their belts, Moss and Daniels along with Owens will look to be the offensive spark that ignites a bounce-back season in College Station.
