No. 3 Texas A&M Aggie Shut Out No. 6 Vanderbilt Commodores Behind Tanner Jones

It was the second straight shutout for the Aggies, who beat Vandy on Friday 15-0 in a run-rule game.

Texas A&M Aggies starting pitcher Tanner Jones provided the mound domination while the Aggies bats provided the offense in A&M's 9-0 drubbing of No. 6 Vanderbilt (26-9, 8-6 SEC) Saturday at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park to clinch the series.

It was the second straight shutout for the Aggies, who beat Vandy on Friday 15-0 in a run-rule game. Texas A&M leads the nation in shutouts with eight.

Jones had maybe his best day as an Aggies as he allowed just six hits over 7.1 shut-out innings while posting five strikeouts. It's the longest Jones has pitched in a game this season, and his third allowing no runs.

Reliever Evan Ashenbeck went the rest of the way, picthing 1.2 scoreless with three strikeouts.

The A&M offense continued is onslaught from Friday night by getting off to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Gavin Grahovac hit his 12th home run of the year - a 432-foot solo bomb that cleared the scoreboad in left field.

Jace LaVoilette was hit by a pitch and then scored on an RBI single to center from Jackson Appel. The Aggies then loaded the bases before Ali Camarillo registered an RBI walk. Caden Sorrell then hit a sac-fly that scored two runs after a throwing error by Vandy for a 5-0 A&M lead.

Travis Chestnut hit a 429-foot solo shot that also cleared the scoreboard in left field for his first of the season. Appel pushed it to 7-0 with an RBI single to center field.

The Aggies plated two more in the eight for the final of 9-0.

Next up, the Aggies go for the sweep of the Commodores with a first pitch at 1 p.m. CT from Olsen Field and Blue Bell Park.
